The whole mortgage application process should take between 6-8 weeks. The very first step of getting a mortgage is to get a broker. Your mortgage broker is the expert that handles all your paperwork and educates you on rates, deals, lenders, loans, and more. Based on your personal financial profile, your lender will recommend mortgage deals for you. After that, it's time to apply! Your broker will help you with all the necessary paperwork. At this point, the lender will start to check and verify your financial circumstances, including your credit score and debt-to-income ratio. Your lender should give you an Agreement in Principle at this point, documenting their willingness to lend you the amount needed. The final step is receiving and accepting the official offer, at which point your solicitor will finish up the report on title for securing the mortgage and agree on a completion date.
